A deeply curved bay a few minutes from Galle Fort with naturally sheltered swimming water and a coral reef offshore that hosts resident hawksbill turtles and accessible reef fish within easy reach of the shore. The headlands on both sides create a near-perfect crescent of protected water that makes Unawatuna one of Sri Lanka’s most reliable swimming beaches year-round. It works especially well combined with a Galle Fort day – the two destinations are only minutes apart and complement each other completely.
